Going through the past

For the last couple of days my energy has been very low, and I finally took sometime to really rest and relax today.  I ran some errands in the morning and wanted to get started on cleaning and testing paint samples in the yoga room; but I just need to take care of myself.

After I took a very long nap this afternoon, I woke up and wanted to do something productive.  Since I still didn't have much energy I started going through our pictures from our past.  I am putting together a scrapbook and I need to figure out a good way to organize all of our photos.  I am starting by putting all the photos I may want to use in one folder, that way Adam can easily eliminate photos.

Question to consider: How do you find motivation when you are feeling under the weather?  What projects do you tackle when you are not 100%?

New yoga room

I can't wait for Adam to start teaching in this room.  I had the best restorative yoga session this morning.

Question to consider: What is your favorite room in your home?

New floor

The past week or so, our home has been very chaotic.  We have had carpet replaced and two new hardwood floors put it.  This project has been in the works for a while and it was so nice to come home last night and finally have the floors done!  Now we have to put all the furniture back and I get to paint our new meditation/yoga room.  But it feels amazing to have the project coming together.

Our bedroom floor is gorgeous!

Question to consider: I am still trying to pick a paint color for the yoga room.  What is your favorite relaxing/calming color?

How to tell your yoga practice is working

It is my 400th post!  When I began this journey, I had a lot of doubts about following through with my commitment to post almost everyday (I purposely take Saturdays off now).  But here I am, still taking photos and writing!

I have been devoting a lot of my time to yoga for the last six months or so; and there are days when I feel like I have made no progress or that I am going backwards.  But today something happened that really showed me that my practice is working.

Yoga is not about getting into difficult poses, it is about maintaining composure in poses.  For example, relaxing your face while doing a pose that is uncomfortable.  Yoga for me is teaching me to take a deep breath and then decide what to do next.  It is helping me react to any situation calmly with grace.

Today when I was cooking and cutting up vegetables, I sliced my finger open.  I had food cooking on the stove that was about to start burning and a finger that was dripping blood.  I took a deep breath and tried to figure out how to handle the situation.  I considered my options and very calmly asked Adam for help (interrupting his phone call).  In the past, I would probably have just started yelling for help and would not have had a plan of action.  Adam needed to take care of the food and I would be able to take care of my finger.

Yoga is so much fun, and I get so excited when I get into a new pose, but that doesn't compare to how I felt today when I realized that I reacted to a difficult situation calmly with grace.

Scenes from today

Question to consider: How do you stay sane during home changes?  Our house has never seemed so small, but I am so excited to have this project started!
